24/7 Armed Emergency Response
Attention, business owners in Youngstown! We are reaching out to shine a light on a critical matter that demands your consideration and caution. Unfortunately, we have received reports regarding some unscrupulous fraudulent security guard companies operating in the area. It is vital that you take the time and effort to remain vigilant, stay alert, and exercise due diligence before entering into any security contracts. We recognize that undertaking thorough research can be both time-consuming and disconcerting. But it is imperative that you prioritize your safety, protect your finances, and help avoid any unwelcome encounters.
At Red Diamond Police and Uniforms, we had a recent incident on December 28, 2023, around 3:00 pm, that serves as a reminder of this alarming situation. We were informed by Ashley, an employee at the store, that she received an order for XXXL shirts from someone claiming to represent our company. This turned out to be an elaborate scam perpetrated by a fake security company that had been posing as a legitimate security firm operating within our region. It was only through our investigation that we identified their phone number and learned that they were stationed at Circle Hookah and Bar, operating under the guise of a legitimate security provider. The person answering the phone was non-cooperative and refused to identify himself, claiming that it was his brother who transferred ownership to him. Even more concerning was his request for polo shirts for his staff. However, upon us correcting him about our company name, he became confused, revealing the façade he had attempted to maintain. It was a wake-up call for us to remain vigilant and alert in the face of fraudulent security providers.
Therefore, we would like to stress that any person or company providing security guard services or marketing it in Ohio must have an official license from the Private Investigator Security Guard Services (PISGS) and carry relevant insurance coverage. It doesn’t matter if a contractor believes they don’t need a license; they still must adhere to the law’s licensing and insurance requirements.
We hope this message affords you the caution you need to protect yourself and your business from fraudulent activities. Please continue to stay aware, conduct your research, and always prioritize your safety and security. Our doors are always open to any inquiries, and we wish you all the success in your business ventures.
It is essential to emphasize that Ohio law mandates anyone offering investigative or security services to acquire a license. Engaging in any such activity without a permit is an unlawful act. To ensure compliance with the legal requirements of operating a security or investigation firm, Ohio Homeland Security’s Private Investigator Security Guard Services (PISGS) manages the licensure and regulation of private investigation and security guard companies. Any authorized company must also register its employees.
If you are considering hiring a security company, we suggest utilizing the PISGS Licensed Provider Search service or asking for proof of a company’s license by requesting to see their wall certification. Similarly, every properly registered employee must carry a registration card.
