Ohio police have issued a public health warning following the arrest of a woman named Linda Leccesse on charges of solicitation, a 3rd degree felony, after testing positive for HIV. Leccesse is accused of engaging in sexual activity on Market Street in Marietta, Ohio, from January 2022 through May 13. As a result of the investigation, a total of 211 individuals who had contact with Leccesse have been identified.

To address this issue, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Marietta Police Department are making calls to known phone numbers associated with Leccesse, assuring the public that this is a legitimate effort to prevent any potential spread of HIV. Those who receive these calls are not in trouble; officers are providing guidance and support, directing them to their local Health Departments for HIV screening and/or treatment. No hearings have been scheduled for Leccesse at this time.

This case has raised serious concerns about the potential spread of HIV, and health officials are urging anyone who may have had contact with Leccesse to seek testing. The Washington County Health Department is dedicated to providing resources and support to those affected by this situation. Efforts are also being made to raise awareness about safe sexual practices and the importance of regular HIV testing.

It is incredibly important for anyone who may have been in contact with Leccesse to take necessary precautions and seek medical attention. Through collective effort, we can work to prevent the spread of HIV and ensure the health and safety of our community.

The investigation into this case is ongoing, and authorities are encouraging anyone with information to come forward. The public is advised to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Stay informed and take the necessary steps to protect yourself and others
