Becoming a licensed real estate agent in Ohio can be a great career move, but there are a few requirements that must be fulfilled before you can begin your new journey. Firstly, it is important to note that you must be at least 18 years of age. Additionally, having a high school diploma or equivalent is required. If you are not a United States citizen, you must be a legal alien to obtain your license. It is also essential to be honest and truthful in your application. Furthermore, certain criminal offenses, such as disqualifying convictions, can prevent you from obtaining your real estate license. You must also not have violated any civil rights laws within the realm of real estate in the past two years. Completing 120 hours of an approved real estate course is mandatory. Finding a broker who will sponsor you after obtaining your license is a crucial step. Once you have taken the exam and received a passing score of at least 70%, you can submit your application to the Ohio Real Estate Commission, along with a $60 fee.
